the 1st one looks like it's on the new taxi way behind the new improved TBIT, the 2nd one is off the 25's probably near UA's facility.
BTW when I was a wayward young thing, I got to use a reserved parking spot at TWA over on World Way, take the bus over to T3 and spend time hoping the standby numbers were in my favor. Did that from summer 1967 till I aged out.
The first two shots look like a good place to shoot from once you've had your fill of burgers at In&Out...The DC10 looks great, but have you taken a really good look at it?
How cool, art.... I was slightly younger, but remember those people who used to fly on standby like that. They were rougue daredevil vagabonds ... the aviatial equivalent of hitchhikers, but more extreme.
I rechecked my triangulation and the best I can come up with is the corner of Westchester Pkwy and Loyola. Unfortunately, I've only visited that area once since the mid '70's and can't be more specific. Life was simpler then when I could park the car on a vacant lot surrounded by vacant homes, stand on the car hood and take photos over the airport fence. BTW, I enjoy your blog and will no longer be Mr "Anonymous".
Welcome aboard AA278! We also miss those days of parking the car and taking pictures over the fence. We might just have a hint on these in an upcoming episode of this series.

ReplyDeleteI should have been more clear; The first two shots weren't taken from the burger joint but at an overpass about 1 1/2 miles west of there.
