TWA 747-238B N307TW

That's the wing of a Saudia 747-368 in 1996. We're pulling into Shannon before dawn for refuelling enroute to JFK.

What's interesting is the all-white TWA. At the time, I figured they had added this one to the fleet to replace the one that went down as TWA 800 earlier in the year.

  1. Way back when I was an even littler bunny, I was privileged to go aboard the first 747 brought into LAX by Travel With Anxiety. I fell in love with it then and there, climbing up the scaffolding steps in the hangar. Never lost my enthusiasm either. Too bad WN doesn't fly them.....what a trip that would be.

  2. I remember how those first glimpses of a 747 felt. We'd go LAX to see the evening TWA flight arrive from JFK. After all of the passengers deplaned, we'd just walk onboard the plane and look around. Even though we had no business being there, everyone was really nice. Things are different now ...

  3. I got by because my stepdad was fairly well liked even though he was "mgmt" He spent 42 years with them, and my pass # was 361101. Imagine the faces of those people on the standby list who thought their *&^% didn't stink, when I got on board and upfront before them. Loved it.
