Homemade Bomb Shelter

***Airplane Life Classics***

CAUTION : This design may not provide adequate protection against warheads in excess of 50 megatons, so you should consider adding a ¼" plywood cover.

***Airplane Life Classics***

The sun is now setting on Planet Earth's short era of Human civilization.

Soon we will all be vaporized into the same cosmic dust from whence we came.

I sit before this old computer one last time, and wonder how my grandfather must have felt when he made the very first Airplane Life post on the internet back in 1964.

Regrets? Sure.

I regret not drinking those last few bottles of Scotch. We just dumped them down the toilet rather than allow them to be enjoyed by the Martians, Giant Nuclear Cockroaches, or whomever it is that inherits this place.

And so it goes ... See you in oblivia ~

How Time Flies

Here's a retro pic from an open house at the Long Beach Bird Farm some years ago.
And this afternoon, when that young lad graduated from Cal Poly!

Orville and Wilbur Wright built this flight of stairs in their family home years before they flew that plane in 1903.

James Bond Goldfinger Lockheed JetStar

Correct protocol would have been for the blue field of the flags to be at the front of the aircraft. The orientation shown gives the impression of the flag flying backwards.

Hawaii Nonstop Flight

The Pacific Golden Plover (Kolea) offers seasonal migration flights between Alaska and Hawaii.

They have been recorded at FL200 at over 100 mph, with 2 WFPS (wing flaps per second) during the 2,500 mile nonstop.

And they can't swim.

Their motto: Ai no ke kolea a momona hoi i Kahiki!
