How Time Flies

Here's a retro pic from an open house at the Long Beach Bird Farm some years ago.
And this afternoon, when that young lad graduated from Cal Poly!

James Bond Goldfinger Lockheed JetStar

Correct protocol would have been for the blue field of the flags to be at the front of the aircraft. The orientation shown gives the impression of the flag flying backwards.

Hawaii Nonstop Flight

The Pacific Golden Plover (Kolea) offers seasonal migration flights between Alaska and Hawaii.

They have been recorded at FL200 at over 100 mph, with 2 WFPS (wing flaps per second) during the 2,500 mile nonstop.

And they can't swim.

Their motto: Ai no ke kolea a momona hoi i Kahiki!

Powerball Odds Explained by Airplane Life

Start by printing out one Powerball ticket for each of all possible number combinations.

Then place each ticket on a seat in a United Airlines 787-9 Dreamliner. Keep placing tickets on seats and fill up as many 787's as required.

Arrange all of the 787's nose to tail, nose to tail.

The string of 787's would completely circle the Earth.

And you'd still have 521,491 Dreamliners left over!

Good Luck, and we hope you are sitting in the correct seat on the correct plane.

~ ~ ~

Below are the numbers you'll need to verify our results.

Powerball odds to win jackpot: 1:292,201,338
Seats on a United 787-9 : 252
Length of a 787-9: 62.81 meters
Circumference of Earth: 40,075.16 kilometers
