So much for the "eternal" thing! Even though I've been going to LAX on and off since childhood, I only went to the tower once, in '72 and missed the flame. What was the eternal flame supposed to represent?

Per a youtube documentary on LAX circa 1963 it was the Perpetual (ha ha!) Flame of Freedom that symbolized cooperation and understanding.
